Though Disney movies define most of our childhoods a quick look back will show they also are the deep seeded roots for some of our fears.

Disney has had some of the most beloved characters over the years. Everyone from Ariel, The Little Mermaid, to the Genie in Aladdin have given us so many characters to root for. On the flip side Disney has had their fair share of totally creepy moments and racist slip ups. Some characters you may remember and some might scare you for the first time reading this post. You are warned.

Madame MedusaThe Rescuers: This lady is truly one of the most scary female characters of all time. Medusa was the greedy pawn shop owner from The Rescuers first in 1977. Medusa brought fear everywhere she went along with her minons Mr. Snoops, Brutus and Nero. Did I mention the plot to her film is that she holds an orphan captive? It is no secret that she shares some similar features to the very famous Little Mermaid villain Ursula equally creepy. Madame Medusa was named after the Greek mythological creature, Medusa and they are very similar besides the fact one has the power to turn people to stone.

Judge FrolloThe Hunchback of Notre Dame: The year 1996 brought this horrific murder and let’s be honest a rapist of sorts. Religion has made people do crazy things for example this nut who killed Quasimodo’s mother and while attempting to kill him the archdeacon stopped him in fear of God’s wrath. He goes on to use witchcraft to blame his own lust on Esmerelda the beautiful gypsy. This is like saying she was asking for it because of what she was wearing. The prideful, lustful man of God fell to his death and is one of the only villains who has fallen to there death that has actually been seen during the fall…..serves him right.

KaaThe Jungle Book: Kaa was on the surface just a creepy snake who lived in the jungle. Down the line years later looking at this film he is a phallic like symbol who is continually trying to hypnotise and constrict a young boy who dresses in nothing but a loin cloth…….enough said

StromboliPinocchio: Cursing in a Disney movie? Well not in English but Italian. Stromboli is a character of a different breed in the world. Not only is a fat, ugly and poor, he is also puppet master…he makes his money off puppets. He also is rather unique among Disney Villains, as he has no evil henchmen to do his dirty work.

Sir Ectors and Sir KaysSword in the Stone: Sir Ectors is a knight who is the father to Sir Kay and adopted father to Arthur who later become the King. There is not much depth to these two besides the fact that Ectors is a creepy, plump looking father figure…who is not really the Arthur’s father and Kays is the idiot jock we all hated in high school.
