Lana Del Rey is truly one of the most interesting, talented and craziest people in the music industry right now. She is entertaining and controversial in the best way possible. Lana Del Rey recently released her new music video of her song National Anthem. The video depicts Lana Del Rey starting off as Marilyn Monroe and transforming into Jackie O witnessing the Kennedy Assassination. That might sound dark but it really shows how creative her vision comes across in any medium.
Lana Del Rey’s music is what this post is really about. Her music drives on all sorts of different levels and have some deep lyrics. But putting all of that behind us the music is nothing else put a nonstop sexy time playlist. I am not saying this like a drunk college male on a Saturday night. I would describe almost everyone of her tracks off of Born to Die as the music that would be playing as Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone are making sweet passionate love at the climax of a Hollywood blockbuster. The voice of and sound of Lana Del Rey is different and sensual that just fits into any intimate moment. Whether the sound is upbeat and intense or slow and suggestive.
Her song Radio, about record labels that passed over Lana Del Rey during the early parts of her career, has a passionate and resenting feel too it. The song has the lyrics ”Now life is sweet like Cinnamon” “My body’s sweet like sugar venom” which is clearly here expression of bittersweet feeling it is to be where she wants to be in the industry. But it comes off as such a provocative track that the meaning could be easily lost. Especially if Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone are getting it on to it.
Now clearly Lana Del Rey’s Born to Die is much more than background music for that special moment. But as a new generation that has seen countless movies, where if a sex scene takes place it is very seldom there is no music, and as that generation it is our job to stop associating Al Green and Marvin Gay as the ultimate slow jams. Music is an essential part of our society. No matter the situation we find ourselves in music is relatable. Lana Del Rey’s music is relatable in many other situations but with her voice and incredible song writing she has become the Siren of Sexy Time.
